Day 06: Favorite Hero
Some of this is gonna come as a side swipe to the folks on here who have known me since I first surfaced on the web.  Mainly cause I’ve never really expressed my fandom for the Carl Bark’s Donald Duck universe before.  But I’ve thought long about this and this is the conclusion I came to.
As some already know from my pic of Pinky a few days ago… back when I was 9 I was super into the whole Disney duck genre.  It wasn’t until I was about 11 I stumbled upon an old collection of the Uncle Scrooge comics by Carl Barks in the school library…. loved it so much that I check it out enough to have had it the whole year.  I dont remember most of the stuff from it, but I do remember beforehand being a huge fan of Donald (he’s always been my fav of the trio), I was thrilled to find out there was more to his story.  Granted by then I had already been exposed to Ducktales, but I always thought it was a show, and didn’t come from anything in particular.  Since I was little I’ve always liked to research and link back and fourth to figure out how things were inspired into other things… ie: how the comics inspired the show Ducktales.  Ducktales always came in a VERY close second to my fav Disney Afternoon series Talespin, and I’ve always been a fan of Scrooge’s.
He’s headstrong, smart with his money, and basically Disney’s answer to Indiana Jones…. but he came along way before Harrison was probably thought of… so I’m pretty sure Scrooge trumps him.  Granted he’s got flaws, but he still makes you root for him!
