For my good friend Jenny who was so kind to offer up her mad embroidery skills for the costume!

It has been like a day and I STILL CAN’T STOP STARING!  Girl you work FAST and you work so well!!  I still can’t get over how cute you made him!  The pose and that grin and the general way he translates into your style, he just looks so precious!!  I’m getting this printed and put in my project file 8DDD I swear this style brings me right back to the Collsworth days too: GOOD nostalgia.  Thank you SO MUCH chick!  You really didn’t have to do anything in return, but I really treasure what you did!! <3

Oddly enough in the last year my style has been reverting back to my old one… it’s kinda a more refined and mature version of the old style :D

TJ let out a fangirl squeal when you remembered him XDDD I can definitely see the development in your style over the years!  It was always such a nice one but it’s so much crisper and more defined now.

part of my final requires me to create a business card.  I decided to use the opportunity to create a new card for the upcoming year, and the assignment requires that I create a company name… seeing as it’s for myself… I decided to call my faux studio “Outerglow Imagination Studios”… kinda has a catchy ring to it and was thinking on actually using this name… was wondering if this is anything I’d have to register if I ever plan to use it… I normally put my con work on my taxes and I just dont want to get in trouble which is why I’ve put my name on everything.

Any help would be hot.. I know a few of you out there are actually working in the industry.

Sorry guys… I know I promised live art… but I sort of laid down five hours ago for a quick picker upper to get rid of a headache… and just woke up to find out it’s bed time again (got to get up at 5am for work)…. so yeah… this is why I have no art for you… better luck tomorrow for a wind down after my first project is done for that final…

I know most of you follow my art LOL… and lately it’s been nothing but cosplay ranting… I apologize and I am doing my best to tag all the cosplay talk with the word cosplay LOL.

Just to explain… I dont normally do the cosplay thing… in fact the last real cosplay I did was about 4 years ago as my own character Toshi and I took that to an un real level (folks said I looked uncannily like her).  But I not only see this as a way to get folks to my booth (having folks know me as the felix costume trumps jenny m. stead anyday due to the familiarity… I mean the last 4 cons NO ONE has been able to find me.  If I can be a life size billboard or landmark for my art to easily recognize the booth I’ll do it. ), and lets be honest… anyone who goes to a con knows a costumed person is more approachable than a non costumed person… it’ll keep people from getting intimidated to come over… cause they usually are…. and it’s a good conversation peace… but most of all…

It’s the ultimate art project for me.  It’s a challenge and gets my brain running turbo overdrive (PUN INTENDED)… and I really honestly love this character.  Everything from the writing of the character to the design, and why not go all the way and get the costume right!  I’ve seen half made costumes done in about a hour from the show… while the gesture is great and no one is perfect… I’ve got almost a 6 month head start to get this right, so no excuses, and I’m sure there are folks out there watching that dont know the first step to getting it done… and maybe cant figure out where or how to do certain elements on the costume… cause I’ve spent hours.. yes… hours… and even days searching for certain things to apply to the costume… I’ve asked around and spent hours on google, rummaging through images and looking up prices to get the best deal on what I need.  No, I’m no seamstress… no way in hell can I sew a costume together from scratch and it look remotely like the character… but I do know where to go when I cant get certain things.  

Felix’s outfit is very similar to work uniforms my dad wore when he was an auto tech, when I was growing up… so I knew what kind of stuff I needed and how it needed to look in the end.  To me it’s all about the details of the costume and how far I’m willing to go to make it look right… no I’m not going to buy a basic cheap tool belt… no I’m not just going to spraypaint a random hammer metallic gold (which is NOT the color of Felix’s hammer btw…)… and yes… I am going to switch out the buttons on a brand new shirt because it’ll make that shirt look just a little more like the character’s.

Pretty much is what I’m saying… sorry about the constant spamming of the costume… so I’ll do my best to tag everything as cosplay as much as I can so you wont be spammed with it…
